Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/91/4520
Date
[? c. 1330]
Description
Petitioners
John Latymer (Latimer).
Name(s)
Latymer (Latimer), John
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Latymer requests remedy as he was peaceably seised of the manor of Duntish when at the death of his wife it escheated to the king and Walter entered the park doing much damage to his deer and trees, and entering his grange and carrying away goods and beasts. He sued in Chancery, and the lands were delivered out of the king's hand, and a writ was ordered to the keeper to render the lands with the issues but he has done nothing, and has retained the goods for a long time.
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the land, if he had such a writ as the petition alleges, he should have a writ just as before. Concerning the goods and chattels he should have a writ of trespass at the common law.
Places mentioned
Duntish, Dorset.
People mentioned
Walter Botril, late keeper of the lands of aliens
Pernele de Gony Myere, wife of the petitioner.
Note
The petition is dated speculatively to c. 1330 as no surviving evidence exists for the petition. The date is merely the date suggested on the guard probably on the basis of some of the preceding petitions, and is clearly open to question.
