Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/91/4514
Date
[c. 1330]
Description
Petitioners
Adam de Bilburgh.
Name(s)
de Bilburgh, Adam
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Morhay (Morehay Lawn), [Northamptonshire]
Forest of Rockingham, [Northamptonshire].
Nature of request
Bilburgh requests confirmation of his charter by which the king's father granted him the bailiwick of Morehay in the forest of Rockingham for his service.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege. 2) He should show his charter in Chancery, and if it is found that it isn't to the king's or anyone else's prejudice then his charter is to be confirmed by fine.
Note
The petition dates to c. 1330 as the petitioner was granted a bailiwick in the forest of Rockingham, though not apparently the one mentioned in the petition (CPR 1330-4, p.70). It is unlikely that the petition can be earlier in Edward III's reign as Bilborough seems to have been imprisoned by the new Mortimer regime in 1327 (CFR 1327-37, p.64).
