The inhabitants request that they be discharged of all tenths and fifteenths granted after this parliament for 20 years so that they can have the opportunity to rebuild their town which has been entirely destroyed by fire.

Note
The petition refers to the fire occurring on the eve of Easter in 13 Henry VI (1435). It must have been presented to the parliament held at Westminster in October-December of that year, since a complete exemption for Andover was included in the fifteenth and tenth granted by that Parliament.
