SC 8/90/4455
Date
[? c. 1303]
Description
Petitioners
Piers Aymery (Aymerici), king's clerk.
Name(s)
Aymery (Aymerici), Piers
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Aymery requests that he can have allowance or satisfaction of the arrears of his fee and expenses for his service on embassies in Gascony to the court of France, and at the court of Rome for which he has not had his fee and taken little for his expenses.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to Drokenesford that when he has viewed and examined the letters that he has of the king and the seneschal of Gascony and he has accounted with him, he should certify the king of what ought to be due to him both of his fee and his expenses so that he is able to be advised of what to do.
Places mentioned
Bourdeaux, [Guyenne, France]
France
Rome, [Italy].
People mentioned
John de Drokenesford (Droxford), Keeper of the Wardrobe.
Note
The petition is dated rather speculatively to 1303 on the basis of a patent roll entry in which the petitioner nominates attorneys whilst he is abroad on the king's service. It seems likely that the petition postdates this, though the petition is probably still in Edward I's reign (CPR 1301-7, p.110).
