Nature of request
The people of Alcester state that the King granted to Walter de Beauchamp, father of Walter de Beauchamp their present lord, a market in their town on Tuesdays and Fridays, and that he granted this market to them by his charter. They have held it peacefully for thirty years and more, until the last feast of St Kenelm [17 July], when Walter de Beauchamp the son and his bailiffs came with force and arms and disrupted the market, which has not been held since. They request a remedy, that they might be maintained according to the articles of their charter.
Nature of endorsement
If Walter de Beauchamp the son acts goes against the action of his father, the complainants are to have a writ of the King's Chancery on the contents of the petition, formulated as it seems to those of the Chancery is to be done.
