Nature of request
Robert de Clifford, heir of Ralph de Gaugy, states that relief is being demanded of him for three whole fees, whereas he only holds three-quarters of a fee, while the heirs of Adam de Gissemen hold a fee and a half, and a quarter of a fee, and Gilbert de Midelton holds half a fee, all of the King in chief. He requests a remedy, so that he might pay only the appropriate portion of the relief.
Nature of endorsement
The rolls of the Exchequer on the fee of the Baron de Gaugy are to be examined, and if they or others hold those fees, and if of the King without an intermediary.And the tenants are to be adjourned to the Exchequer at the quinzaine of Easter, and in the meantime they are to have peace.
