Nature of request
The people of Bridport state that the Abbot of Cerne Abbas and his bailiffs took some wreck at Bridport, which should have belonged to the King and to the people of Bridport, and that he procured an inquest which found that some earlier wreck was also his, and awarded him damages of £10, whereas the Sheriff had valued that wreck at 2 shillings. They request a remedy and council as to how to save the £10, the wreck and their franchise.
