Nature of request
Henry de Brok and Nicola his wife state that John Fitz Philip and Isabel his wife surrendered into the King's hand the manor of White Roding in Essex, which was of Isabel's inheritance, on condition that the King would enfeoff Isabel with it for term of life, and then Henry and Nicola, and Nicola's heirs in perpetuity, but that a charter has now been made granting it to Isabel and to the heirs of her body, and then, if there are no such heirs, to Henry and Nicola, and Nicola's heirs. They ask that this charter might be emended in line with the previous terms, or that Isabel might again have the status she had on the day when she surrendered the manor into the King's hand.
