Council.
Nature of request
William atte Sele states that an assize of novel disseisin held at Winchester during Lent in the King's forty-eighth year, between him and the Bishop of Winchester, which found in his favour, was interrupted before judgment by the death of William Tauk. The Bishop brought another assize against the petitioner, and procured it to find in his favour. Now the Bishop is preventing him from entering churches in his diocese or receiving the sacraments, because he will not give him his tenements; and he had him outlawed while he was in prison, so that he can have no remedy at common law. He requests a remedy in this parliament.
