Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Abingdon complain of numerous violent attacks on the Abbey, its monks, its property and its franchises by the townspeople of Abingdon, and request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
It is agreed by the council that the Abbot is to appear in Chancery and advise the court how he can best be helped by the law; and the Chancellor has been told to let him have the recovery and remedy that he can, according to [law] and reason, for the grievances contained in the petition.
