Nature of request
Robert Averay of Tavistock states that on the Monday before the feast of St George certain malefactors of Tavistock came to his house, assaulted him, broke into his buildings, carried off his goods and chattels, and imprisoned him, William Pere his servant and William Splot and held them to ransom, so that he has been chased out of his country for fear of his life. He has sued against these malefactors, but can have no justice through the maintenance of the Sheriff of Devon and others. He requests a remedy.

Note
Probably datable to the parliament of November 1384, but certainly from around that time, as grants are made of the goods and chattels forfeited by the outlawry of John Ford and Roger Milton on 19 September 1385 (CPR 1385-9 p. 23) and a pardon of outlawry is granted to Ford on 24 October 1385 (CPR 1385-9 p.28).
