de Annesley, John
Addressees

Places mentioned

Nature of request
[This petition is damaged and it is hard to be sure exactly what has happened.] John de Annesley states that the King had granted him his bailiwick dependant on his good behaviour, but that in the Eyre in those counties in the King's fourth year, the Justices ordered the Sheriff of Nottinghamshire to levy the farm, [possibly because of a complaint by John that he could not do so]. John requests a writ to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to inquire into the matter, and that he might be charged with what he was able to levy, and discharged from what he could not.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered by a writ containing the effect of this petition that, when they have heard his complaint, if they can discover that he was kept from the profits of his bailiwick by reason of the cry, they are to do justice to him.
