Description
Petitioners

Name(s)
Ansty (Anstey), Elizabeth
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Elizabeth, widow of Robert Ansty, states that she was disseised of the manor of Harpsden in Oxfordshire, because one John Harpden, bastard, obtained the King's letters patent by a false suggestion that the lands should belong to his brother, who was in France, and be forfeited to the King for his disloyalty, although this brother's claim descends from a younger brother, whereas hers descends from an elder one. Her suit to recover it has been halted by a writ of supersedeas. She requests a writ of procedendo to the justices.
Nature of endorsement
On 1 March, in the King's third year, with the council of the Earl of Northumberland, Lord de Berkeley, Lord de Lovell, J. Searle, Prophete, John Frome and John Cursoun, it was agreed that the matter of this petition should be sent back to the common law.
