Nature of request
The Bishop-elect of Winchester states that his predecessors had a fair at Winchester, the fair of St Giles, from which they used to receive the profits until this year, when Richard de Cornwaille, Marshal of the measures, entered the franchise and took fines and amercements, contrary to the franchise and to what had been done previously. He requests restitution of the fines and amercements, and that he might have and enjoy his fair in all things, as his predecessors did.

The Bishop-elect is to show the charter of his liberties in this matter in Chancery, and Richard de Cornwaille is to be called, to give his reasons for his action in this matter; and justice is to be done to the Bishop-elect on this.
