Nature of request
John du Vivier, Thomas Destefeld and Philip de Vincheles, of Guernsey and Jersey request the King's protection, so that they might be able to pursue their right in court against false accusations made against them by certain ministers of the King, who have been called to the King's peace concerning the murder of one Ranulph Gauter, murdered in Guernsey castle, as they fear these ministers, and also the friends of Walter de la Salle, hanged and drawn for the murder, and others who have abjured the realm because of it.
