Nature of request
The Abbot of Strata Florida states that although his lands and tenements in South Wales are held in pure and perpetual alms, so that he ought not to perform any suit for them, the Constable of Cardigan is distraining him to perform suit to the county court of Cardigan. He asks that his charters for the lands might be examined, and that he might have a remedy according to their contents.

A note at the start of this file, dated 3 May 1932, states that 'The petitions in this file are copied in R. C. Transcripts I. 156, and appear to form part of an original file of petitions to the parliament of Michaelmas 1320. Cf. Parl. Proc. (Chancery) 5/4'. This would agree with the delay in the judgment since the quinzaine of Trinity, 12 Edward II [1319]. This petition is therefore tentatively dated to 1320.
