Jacomine de Merk complains that when John de Lacheleygh was attainted of fishing in her fishponds at Lindsell, against her will and the peace of the King, and of other trespasses against her, and was handed over to Ralph Giffard, then sheriff of Essex, to be kept in prison until he had made satisfaction both to Jacomine and to the King, Giffard released him before he had made satisfaction to Jacomine. She requests a remedy.

Ralph Giffard was Sheriff of Essex between 27 May 1319 and 25 October 1320. If this petition is dated to just after this time, to the October parliament of 1320, this would fit with CPR 1317-21 pp.358-9 (dated 12 February 1319) and 422 (dated 25 February 1320), and CCR 1318-23 pp.147 (dated 11 July 1319).
