Description
Petitioners
Thomas Seintlegier (St Leger), son and heir of Ralph de Seintlegier and Beatrice his wife.
Name(s)
Seintlegier (St Leger), Thomas
Addressees
Prince and others of the King's council.
Nature of request
Thomas Seintlegier, son and heir of Ralph de Seintlegier and Beatrice his wife, states that after Ralph's death Beatrice granted the manor of Ulcombe in Kent to Guy Mone, formerly Bishop of St David's, for term of her life, and he, in turn, assigned it to William Maideston for term of Beatrice's life. Thomas now learns that William has forged his seal, and has used it to make certain charters prejudicial to Thomas and his right. He asks the Prince and others of the council to summon William before them, and if, by examining him they can discover that any such charters have been made, to annul these; or to have him make a recognisance of record that he claims no right in the manor except for term of Beatrice's life.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Ulcombe, Kent.
People mentioned
Ralph de Seintlegier (St Leger)

William Maideston (Maidstone).
Note
The subsequent questioning of William Maideston on this matter (SC 8/86/4260) took place on 23 October 13 Henry IV (1411): this petition would therefore seem to date from that year. Guy Mone, Bishop of St David's, died on 31 August 1407.
