Description
Petitioners
Thomas de Percy, Earl of Worcester.
Name(s)
de Percy, Earl of Worcester, Thomas
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Thomas Percy, Earl of Worcester, states that letters patent granting him 600 marks of annual rent from certain lands in Wales are invalid, as they make no mention of earlier grants, and asks that the sums he has received from these lands might nevertheless be allowed to him, and that he and his heirs might be quit and discharged of any charge or molestation as a result of the invalidity of these letters, and that the King might grant this sum to him in future, from the Exchequer, if it cannot be raised from the specified lands. He also requests confirmation of other grants with the clause quousque, and licence to receive a further £100, in goods and chattels, from the King or any of his predecessors.

Note
CPR 1401-5 p.167 and CCR 1402-5 p.4 are both dated 24 October 1402. They would seem to be in response to this petition as much as to SC 8/85/4248: CCR 1402-5 p.4 orders payment of arrears. There is no mention of the other grants, however. This petition would seem to be an expanded version of SC 8/85/4248, and probably roughly contemporary, as the petitioner was executed in July 1403.
