Nature of request
John Mildenale states that at his request Robert Body and Robert Deverell pledged themselves to John Gowayne for payment of £120 at the end of three years, and for better security, John Gowayne enfeoffed them with certain lands and tenements in Salisbury, on condition that when John Mildenale had acquitted them of the £120, or they had levied that sum from the lands and tenements or been paid it by John Mildenale, he would be enfeoffed with these lands and tenements in their place. They have refused to do this, although Thomas Worston, canon of Salisbury, has offered to pay them the £120, and although they have levied £115 from the lands and tenements, and John Mildenale has offered to pay the remainder. He asks that they might be summoned before the Duke and lords to explain their conduct, and that justice might be done to him.
