Description
Petitioners
John Lescrop (Le Scrope), brother and heir of Henry, Lord Scrope of Masham.
Name(s)
Lescrop (Le Scrope), John
Addressees
Commons of parliament.
Nature of request
John Lescrop, brother and heir of Henry, Lord Scrope of Masham, states that Henry V granted him all the lordships, lands, tenements and other possessions which were entailed, forfeited by his brother Henry, provided that he could prove that he had right of inheritance before the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Duke of Exeter, the Bishop of Durham, and William Kynwolmerssh, Treasurer of England: but that he could not do this, because of the Duke's illness and William Kynwolmerssh's death. He has since sued on this matter, and inquisitions have been taken, but nevertheless he has not been able to have delivery of his inheritance. He asks the commons to ask the King and lords to ordain by authority of the present parliament that he might be able to have delivery, without any further process, of all the lordships, lands, tenements and other possessions which are found by these inquisitions to be entailed to him, and for which he can show sufficient evidence, either in the present parliament or in Chancery.
