Nature of request
Thomas Keyll states that enemies and ill-wishers have accused him of various crimes of which he is not guilty, and requests safe-conduct to come before the Duke of York to explain these accusations, and then to leave without hindrance, so that he might acquit himself of any accusations of treason, felony, murder, rape or any other crime that anyone wishes to bring against him, by his own hand, or, if the accuser cannot appear in person, that he might not be believed without proof.
