Note (Additional information about the record)
- From the reference to the Duke of Gloucester, this would seem to date from the early years of the reign of Henry VI - see SC 8/85/4224, SC 8/85/4230, SC 8/85/4242 and SC 8/86/4269 for other similar petitions from around this period (4224, 4230 and 4242 with similar endorsements). Beatrice, wife of Thomas FitzAlan (d.1415), was an illegitimate daughter of John I, king of Portugal.
