Nature of request
Ralph, Lord Greystoke states that he was appointed to be one of the wardens of the Scottish March with Northumberland, and also warden of Roxburgh castle, but that as he was travelling to Roxburgh to take up this post, he was seized within the realm of England by the Scottish Earl of March, and put to a heavy ransom, so heavy that it will ruin him forever. He requests the Duke of Lancaster's help, that he might not be utterly destroyed by this payment.
