Nature of request
Robert, Bishop of Durham, states that the grant of 300 archers for the defence of the realm from the Bishopric of Durham, made by the commons in the present parliament, is utterly contrary to the franchise of his County Palatine. He asks that with the assent of the lords and commons in parliament, and by authority of the same, his Bishopric might be quit and discharged of this grant.
Nature of endorsement
This bill is agreed by the lords, provided that a reasonable fine is paid for it, as may be agreed between the King, Chancellor and Treasurer of England, and the said Bishop of Durham.
