Nature of request
Faucomberg requests that he is released from the outrageous fine that he was forced to make to the king's father by Despenser, and for which he has paid a portion and distrained for the remainder. Despenser indicted him of taking a hart and hind in the forest and imprisoned him until he made the fine.
Nature of endorsement
Because the trespass was made in the forest of Pickering that was then in the hand of the king's father by the quarrel of Thomas, earl of Lancaster, and as it was ordained in parliament that the king should not take any more of the profits of the lands of those who were involved in the quarrel of which he had not at that time been served, and because he was indicted before someone other than the keeper of the forest against the law of the forest, let the treasurer and barons be ordered that they are . . . instalment.
