Date
[? c. 1408]
Description
Petitioners
Barons of the Cinque Ports.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The barons request that they can have their allowances of the tenths and fifteenths that they have always had by grant of the king's progenitors of their franchises and liberties.
Nature of endorsement
They should show their charters and other things, and they should have writs according to the tenor of these.
Places mentioned
Cinque Ports.
Note
The petition is dated with a great deal of caution to? c. 1408. The dating is based on the guard dating, but it is not at all certain that the inspeximus and confirmation of the charters of the barons does in fact relate to this request (CChR 1341-1417, p.438).
