Name(s)
de Crombwell (Cromwell); de Crombwell (Cromwell), Ralph; Maud
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The Crombwells request the livery of the heir of Roger le Brom with his lands, since by law restitution ought to be made to them as heirs of full age of all the fees and advowsons as fully as they were seized into the king's hand, as part of the inheritance and land held by Roger le Brom from William Bernak, late brother of Matilda de Crombwell, has not been delivered.
Nature of endorsement
Let this bill be ordered into Chancery, and those that are to be called be called, and let justice be done.
Places mentioned
Norfolk
Blo' Norton, [Norfolk].
People mentioned
William Bernak (Barnack), brother and heir of John Bernak
John Bernak (Barnack)
Roger le Brom
William Elys (Ellis)
John Knyvet, Justice
Robert [le Brom], son and heir of Roger le Brom.
Note
The petition can be dated to c. 1361 as an entry in the fine rolls records the death of William Bernak in December 1360, and the inheritance by the petitioners in February 1361. It is unlikely that the petition would long postdate this delivery of the inheritance (CFR 1356-69, pp.317-18).
