Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/83/4125
Date
[? 1320]
Description
Petitioners
Adam de Kermerdyn, (Carmarthen), son of Adam de Kermerdyn.
Name(s)
de Kermerdyn, (Carmarthen), Adam
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Kermerdyn requests a remedy as the lands that his father held in Aghaviller, following his death have been seized into the king's hand by Mortimer, believing the land to be held by John de Kermerdyn, a felon, though he had never held them.
Nature of endorsement
It is order to the justice of Ireland that if it is as the petition alleges he should do justice according to the law and customs of those parts, otherwise he should certify the king in Chancery of the reason for the seizure, and all his actions and process without delay.
Places mentioned
Aghaviller, County Kilkenny, [Ireland].
People mentioned
Adam de Kermerdyn (Carmarthen), father of the petitioner
Roger Mortimer, Lieutenant of Ireland
John de Kermerdyn (Carmarthen).
Note
The guard notes speculatively date this petition to? 1320 on the basis of the dating of a number of other petitions in this file, but it also notes the possibility of an earlier date based on Mortimer's tenure of the office of lieutenant of Ireland. In addition, the petitioner makes a brief appearance in the patent rolls in 1321 on an unconnected matter (CPR 1317-21, p.579)
