Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/83/4118
Date
[1318-1322]
Description
Petitioners
Richard de Horsley.
Name(s)
de Horsley, Richard
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Horsley requests a writ to the collectors of Hartlepool and to those of Newcastle that he be served of the money that he was granted by the king from the collectors of Hartlepool for his wages in the company of the earl of Angus since the collectors have paid nothing.
Nature of endorsement
A writ should be sent to the collectors just as before.
Places mentioned
Hartlepool, [County Durham]
Newcastle upon Tyne, [Northumberland].
People mentioned
[Robert de Umfraville], Earl of Angus.
Note
The petition dates to the period 1318-1322 as a writ was directed to the collectors of Hartlepool in 1318 to pay Horsley, and a writ was addressed to the collectors of Newcastle in 1322 to pay an identical sum (CCR 1313-18, p.548; CCR 1318-23, p.444). This is clearly an ongoing payment, and it is not easy to opt for a particular date, and indeed it is possible that further payments were made in the intervening period.
