Nature of request
The people request that the people of the town and Lowey of Pevensey be distrained to make contributions to demands of the king for boats etc. as they ought to do. The town of Pevensey is a member of the town of Hastings, and is of the same liberty, and ought to be justiceable to them, but has withdrawn and will not make contributions.
Nature of endorsement
It is ordered to the keeper of the Cinque Ports that he should hear the quarrel of the men of Hastings in that part and call those that should be called, and hear their arguments etc. and he should do justice.

The petition dates to 1320 as a Latin summary of the petition was enrolled on the parliament roll dated in the heading given in Rot. Parl., vol. I, p.365 to the Michaelmas parliament held at Westminster in 14 Edw. II (1320).
