Hasting requests that it is ordained as to his estate in the napery at the coronation, as he should serve and have the napery or its value. His father sued to parliament for this right, and he has sued at another parliament and the treasurer and barons were ordered to certify the king at this parliament.1)

Note
The petition was presented during Edward II's reign (reference to Eleanor of Provence as grandmother of the present king). There is a reference to the king's coronation (1307) and to subsequent parliaments at which the petitioner and his father have sued. The petition has therefore been tentatively dated to the first years of Edward II's reign up to 1313, which is the date marked in the margin.
