King.
Nature of request

Nature of endorsement

Places mentioned
Darley, [Deerbyshire].
People mentioned
Abbot of Darley.
Note
The petition is difficult to date. Most of the rest of the file seems to date to 1320 as a note at the beginning of the file indicates. However, VCH Derbyshire refers to this petition as possibly dating to 1327, being approximately contemporary with a letter of the abbot complaining of the impoverishment of the house for very different reasons (VCH, Derbyshire, II, p.51; SC 1/23, no.121). The VCH dating, as the note on the guard to this petition states, is without definite dating, the abbot's letter being dated by reference to similar documents from other houses. To cover these two different dates the date range 1320-1327 has been adopted.
