Nature of request
The people request that they be pardoned all manner of debts levied on them from the Exchequer from the annual rent for their lands for three further years, they having respite until All Saints as they are totally ruined by the war.
Nature of endorsement
They should have respite on this for three years, the king wishes that his debts are levied after the respite has passed.

Note
The petition is dated to c. 1321 primarily on the dating suggested by Fraser (Northern Petitions, pp.135-6 (no.102)). There seems no reason to question this dating, though further respites were granted up until 1326 (E 159/94 m.43d; 96 m.17d; 97 mm.34d, 79d; 102, mm.44, 57, 65).
