Nature of request
The tenants request that the king order the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, having regard for the remembrances, that they make recompense for the sum levied from them for the tenth granted by the clergy of the province of Canterbury to the king in the sum that was levied for the fifteenth granted by the earls and barons. The clergy had been granted a quittance of the fifteenth for the tenth, but the collectors have levied the fifteenth despite the bishop having paid the tenth.
Nature of endorsement
He should have a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they should do justice concerning the first article, and concerning the allowance it is to be done if it pleases the king.
