The petition is dated on the guard to c. 1300 based on the reference to Peter Mallory as justice. Mallory served as a justice of the court of common pleas from 1292, and last occurs in Easter 1308 (Sainty, Judges of England, p.60). The basis of the more specific date on the guard is unclear.
