[c. 1327]
Description
Petitioners
John de Usehele, Merchant.
Name(s)
de Usehele, John
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
King's Lynn, [Norfolk]

Nature of request
Usehele requests a writ to the customers to make allowance to him in his wool that he will export from Lynn for a sum owed to him by the king for a loan for use against his Scottish enemies for which he has not been paid.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer, barons and chamberlains of the Exchequer are ordered that when they have viewed the letters mentioned by the petition, if they find that the debt is still due then they should make payment, allowance or assignment as quickly as they are able, receiving and charging etc.
Note
The petition dates to c. 1327 as the letters of patent which recorded the debt owed to the petitioner date to 10 September 1327 (1 Edw. III), and it is unlikely that the petition would be more than a couple of years later.
