Nature of request
[The petition is badly damaged, and a considerable part of the last entry is missing.]1) Vyenne requests remedy as the king granted him the office of comptroller of customs in the city of London for his life, but he was ousted from the office by Despenser, and though he has sued in parliament and before justices for the office, the office has been granted to several other individuals so that he cannot have his right.2) Vyenne requests that he can have his sustenance from the levy on wool at the staple of Winchester, as the king granted him that he could have his sustenance from the priory of Seintdenys outside Southampton, and he has not been able to have it.3) Copy of a grant by Edward II to Vyenne of the office of counteroller in the city of London.4) Copy of a writ of Edward II to his treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to enquire of why the Vyenne was removed from office.5) [Entry concerning a grant of office to Alan de Thesdale].

The petition dates to 1327-1328 as the petitioner was sent to the prior and convent of St Denis near Southampton on 4 March 1328, but the petition with others from the same petitioner seems to date to 1327 (CCR 1327-30, 413; Rot. Parl. Hac. Ined., pp.144-5). The grant copied into the petition dates to 17 March 1317, and the writ to 2 December 1326.
