Reference
SC 8/81/4019
Date
[c. 1326]
Description
Petitioners
Beatrice de Vyvoyne (Vivonne, Vivonia) of Winchester.
Name(s)
de Vyvoyne (Vivonne, Vivonia), Beatrice
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Vyvoyne requests grace and remedy as her mother granted her a rent from tenements in the manor of Chewton for her life, and this is in the king's hand by the minority of the heir, and Poyns, in whose custody the manor is, has disturbed her so that she is unable to have her rent.
Nature of endorsement
If the land is held of the king in chief, the age of the heir should be proved.
Places mentioned
Chewton, Somerset.
People mentioned
Joan de Vyvoyne (Vivonne, Vivonia), mother of the petitioner
Piers (Peter) Fitz Renaud (Fitz Reginald), son and heir of Joan de Vynoyne
Hugh Poyns (Poyntz).
Note
The petition clearly postdates the death of Peter Fitz Reginald whose inquisition post mortem was held on 20 September 1326. If one takes into consideration the turmoil over the next few months, it is unlikely that custody of the heir or lands would have been made until 1327, so that the petition probably dates to 1327-1330 at the latest c. 1326 encompasses this range.
