King and council.
Nature of request
Vivier and Lorcel request that Grandison be summoned to declare the cause for which they were imprisoned by Spigornel and forced to fine with Grandison for £40 and £60 respectively as they hold nothing of Grandison and have done nothing contrary to custom so that they may appeal before the king and council of this grievous will and will submit to judgment the reasons for both parties being heard according to the custom of the isles. Note
The petition dates to c. 1323 as Spigurnel was one of the justices assigned to hold the pleas in the Channel Islands on 15 July 1323, and it would seem likely that the petition is within a year or so of this assignment (CPR 1321-4, p.370).
