Forwards first annual report of the Poor Law Board, 1880-1881, which gives a full picture of current poor law provision and defects in the system. With statistics showing numbers of persons receiving in-door and out-door relief by parish, returns of parochial officers appointed under the Poor Relief Act 1880, and return of parochial funds expended on poor relief. Also gives details of two individual cases: that of Grig Munveal, a former master mason now 'poor, aged, blind and destitute'; and that of a 'pauper woman', Mary Jane Boxill, allegedly refused assistance to bury her dead child Angelina.
