Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to Holdernesse: his pleasure at the augmentation of the reinforcements. All is prepared for them in Emden. The enemy's designs on Roermond. If the enemy advances he must fight them or lose all the advantages he has gained. He sees no way of forcing France to peace unless the Netherlands enters the war. He has heard that the enemy is approaching, but would prefer to wait for the arrival of the English troops before engaging in a second battle. He needs ten thousand men and a diversion on the French coast. Dated at Grevenbroich. ff. 138, 139
