Commissary Michael Hatton to Holdernesse: after the juncture of the two armies at Coesfeld, he had imagined that Colonel Boyd would have taken charge as commissary general. However, the duke of Marlborough has informed him that Boyd has too much business with the Hessians and has ordered him to remain with the [British] troops. He hopes to receive the king's commission as commissary general. Dated at Coesfeld. ff. 44, 45
