Gives information concerning the claims of a 'coloured' woman, Elsie Simons (Simmons) and widower Sarah Arthur to a small plot of escheated land in St. Georges. Simons claimed to be a sister of the original owner Sarah Casey (also known as Sarah Carmichael and Sarah Forbes), and Mrs. Arthur claimed to be wife of Casey's creditor. Encloses an extract from the Privy Council minutes of 15 October concerning the claims, petitions from Simons and Arthur, a letter from the acting colonial secretary, a memo giving information about the land, and a testimony signed by Provost Marshal General John H Trott and jurors; John T Fisher, W Tudor Tucker, W T Trott, Henry E Higgs, Joseph Outerbridge, Anthony W Hayward, W A Outerbridge, John Skinner, Samuel C Raukin, John R Duerden, John Fox, and Joseph M Hayward.
