R Irvine to Holdernesse: he was overawed by the personages before whom he appeared and did not express himself clearly. He refers Holdernesse to an enclosed letter. He has divulged a person's name contrary to his promise. He personally will derive no benefit from the reward demanded within the letter. He encloses a letter from an officer of the French guards reinforcing his opinion on the invasion. He asks for a letter of credence to the states of Zealand. PS. that there has been an attempt on the life of the French king. Dated at Flushing. ff. 192, 193
