R Irvine to [Under Secretary] James Wallace: the frigates with wine and flour have sailed for Canada. The Henry is detained in Ostend as a reprisal for a Swedish ship captured by the British. The inhabitants fear a bombardment; the measures being taken against it. Fortification works at Dunkirk. Rumours of an imminent attack on St Malo. The people [of Zeeland] are delighted at the decision to release the Maria Teresia and have hopes for the rest of their ships detained in England. Dated at Flushing. ff. 135, 136
