R Irvine to [Under Secretary] James Wallace, quoting from a letter from M de la Chastre, commandant of St Malo, describing his successful attack on the British rearguard near St Malo. Celebrations in Paris. The frigate La Valeur has arrived at Brest from Quebec with an account of the action at Ticonderoga. The news is being spread that Louisburg is still in French hands. The two French frigates are still at Dunkirk. Dated at Flushing. ff. 85-87
