R Irvine to [Under Secretary] James Wallace: letters from Austrian Flanders indicate the British are still in possession of Cherbourg. Another says that French troops are assembling at Caen to attack Cherbourg. The two French frigates are still at Zuider Zee. He suggests they be blockaded. The capture of Cape Breton gives the Dutch little pleasure. Dated at Flushing. ff. 73, 74
