Holdernesse to Amherst, enclosing copies of his correspondence with the landgrave, and a copy of the treaty with him. Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to command the army. The indemnification demands of the Hessians are excessive, but can only be addressed after a general peace. Amherst is not to open the subject with the Hessians. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 157-161
