Holdernesse to Amherst: the king's surprise at Althaus' proposal to move the Hessians into Denmark. Amherst is to go to Hamburg to try to discover the landgrave's intentions and to impress on him that he must deploy his troops as the king wishes. He is also to discuss it with the ministers of Hanover. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 413-145
